Course Syllabus

I. Allegro ma non tanto

In the lesson on the scherzo, Segev takes us behind the notes as we explore the trademark Beethoven scherzo-- the mood, the feeling, and the rapidly changing atmospheres. We also learn Segev's secrets for practicing the double stops that come out of nowhere and can be challenging.

II. Scherzo. Allegro molto

In this lesson, we learn about the dialogue of the cello and piano. We also learn how to pace the vibrato in the slow introduction, which is as close to a slow movement as we experience in this entire sonata. Segev also gives us a mini-course on practicing velocity in thumb position, and how to create a clean, pristine sound while playing fast up high.

III. Adagio cantabile – Allegro vivace

Inbal Segev is one of the most renowned cellists of her generation, known for her searing, passionate interpretations of music from Bach through the 21st century.
