An exploration of Ali Kian Yazdanfar’s four fundamental variables that affect sound production:Torque - contrasted with weight, torque is what allows us to make an even sound throughout the contact point of the bow - from frog to tip - an exploration of what Ali refers to as a “J-stroke”. Speed - what we use to change the dynamic/volume of sound. Placement - where you place the bow on the string, in relation to the bridge or nut of the bass. Bow Angle - an exploration of flat hair vs. angled hair in order to find the easiest path to a particular articulation.
