Rachmaninoff

Vocalise, Op. 34 No. 14

Taught by renowned double bassist

Travis Harrison

Travis Harrison explores on of the most popular lyric works commonly performed on the double bass - Rachmaninov's Vocalise. Not only will you be given musical advice for how to approach this vocal piece on the bass in a singing style; but Travis also suggests a number of places a player could apply some more advanced techniques in order to serve the music for phrasing without accents, variety of colors, and smooth and accurate shifting. An excellent piece for a beginner to learn, but also a great place for an advanced player to experiment with and apply some new techniques, like micro-shifts!
